Abstract
Music-based and intergenerational programs are two interventions shown to increase quality of life for persons with dementia. This scoping review aimed to synthesize these two areas of the literature, with a focus on community-dwelling participatory interventions between youth and persons with dementia. A literature search was conducted in ten medical, nursing, social science, and general databases; after examining the identified research, 19 studies were identified for inclusion. The objective of examining these topics was to support an ongoing research project: the establishment of an intergenerational choir, Voices in Motion, for community-dwelling persons with Alzheimer’s disease, their caregivers and high school students.
