Abstract
This little book is based on a keynote presentation at the first Symposium of the Institute for Coastal Research at Malaspina University-College in Nanaimo, British Columbia, on March 31st, 2006. It explores several questions regarding the nature of interdisciplinary research, and the role of community participation within it, and leads into the question whether interdisciplinary community-based research can help to resolve complex resource management issues on the British Columbia Coast.
