dc.description.abstract The main object of this work is to present some important developments in the theory of generating functions for the classical orthogonal polynomials including, for example, the Jacobi polynomials (and, of course, the Gegenbauer or ultraspherical polynomials, the Legendre or spherical polynomials, and the Chebyshev polynomials or the first and second kinds), the Laguerre polynomials, and the Hermite polynomials, and the various generalizations and discrete analogues of these polynomials. en
