Abstract
Professor Ellen Greene’s areas of expertise include Sappho, women poets in Greece and Rome, Greek and Latin lyric poetry, and gender and erotics in lyric poetry. Her scholarly achievements include important books on Sappho: Reading Sappho: Contemporary Approaches (1997 ), Re-Reading Sappho: Reception and Transmission (1997), and The New Sappho on Old Age (with Marilyn Skinner, 2009). Dr. Greene’s significant observations on gender and erotics in lyric poetry inform The Erotics of Domination: Male Desire and the Mistress in Latin Love Poetry (1999) and Gendered Dynamics in Latin Love Poetry (with Ronnie Ancona, 2005).
