Abstract:
Despite its undoubtable popularity among the early modern audience, the play Mucedorus has largely fallen behind in contemporary literary study. My research has aimed to bring Mucedorus to the forefront of early modern scholarship by compiling its seventeen known quarto publications to create a definitive, comprehensive modern edition. To this end, I have looked at all extant quartos in detail, examined potential printers and publishers, read as much literary criticism as I was able to access, and collated the few existing modern editions against one another.
