dc.description.abstract Item consists of tables 5, 6, 8, 14, 15, 16, 21, and 22 selected for digitization by Dr. Derek V. Ellis, Professor Emeritus, Department of Biology, University of Victoria, from his 1957 McGill University dissertation "Marine Infaunal Benthos in Arctic North America." Data in tables are a selection from benthonic species quantitative surveys made in Baffin Island during 1954 and 1955 and in West Greenland during 1956 in order to estimate the standing crop of benthos in these regions. At the time very little was known about arctic North American benthonic species, which are economically important as stocks of food for commercial fish. For best representation of tables, view this PDF document in the Adobe Reader "two-up" page display. en_US
