Literature on the lived experiences of older women with heart failure was reviewed from a feminist perspective. The literature review revealed that women’s lives are pluralistic and their experiences with heart failure are understood in personal and social contexts. Women living with heart failure seek to understand this complex and chronic syndrome but do not want to abandon their own voices and experiences, ideas, and needs within the biomedical explanation.
