Four older women were interviewed, the interviews transcribed and analyzed for themes. Of the four women, one was frustrated and impatient with the need to wait; three were continuing to live to the best of their abilities coping with their various illnesses but not focusing on the length of the waiting time. Themes common to several participants were: coping with social isolation, not wanting to be a burden on friends and family and using life experience to deal with the present and the future . Individual themes included fear of living alone, making the best of things, gratitude for the past and worries about the future.84 pagesAvailable to the World Wide WebJust managing : Lifeworlds while waiting for long term careThesis
