Abstract
Hygrothermal simulations were performed to determine trends in the moisture performance of stucco-clad wood-frame construction in Victoria, BC. Climate change creates new problems for building envelopes as they face scenarios never accounted for by designers. Climate models allow engineers to simulate the response to building envelopes before conditions appear. CanRCM4 is a 50-member regional climate model covering North America and was downsized from the global circulation model CanESM2. Climate data from CanRCM4 was used with WUFI pro software to simulate moisture response for building envelopes in Victoria for 2020 and 2050. Three parallel climate realizations and ten climate variables were used to conduct six simulations.
