dc.description.abstractCooperative learning is a student-centered instructional approach that has the potential to encourage more interactions among students and maximize the improvement of each student’s learning process. This project examines the effect of cooperative learning on non-English major students’ oral skills improvement in Chinese universities. By reviewing the empirical studies conducted by Chinese college English teachers, this project examines the effect of cooperative learning from three aspects, including students’ oral test scores, oral production and the quality of spoken English. Based on the findings from the literature review, this project further discusses the constraints and possibilities of the implementation of cooperative learning in the light of certain Chinese sociocultural factors; as well this project provides recommendations to college English teachers and academic administrators for implementing a cooperative learning approach when teaching of English oral skills.en_US
