This is a self-study as I go on my journey to become an effective administrator. Being a new administrator, two years as a vice principal and one year as a principal, it is important to understand leadership styles and theories. Comparing my leadership style with the models by Fred Fiedler Paul Hersey and Ken Blanchard, can only strengthen my understanding of leadership, which in turn will make me a more effective administrator. Understanding the differences between relationship-motivated and task-motivated leadership, directing, coaching, supporting or delegating styles, and how to know which style is best for each individual staff member, is imperative to my success as a leader.en
