Abstract
Introduction This project explored the experiences of current nonprofit partners of the University of British Columbia Okanagan’s (UBC-O) Community Service Learning (CSL) Program. The research sought to understand, from the perspective of the agencies, their motivations for partnership, the benefits and costs of partnerships, necessary elements of successful partnerships, and areas of improvement for the CSL program. Related, the primary research question for this project was: “How can the CSL program strengthen nonprofit partnerships and ensure mutually beneficial outcomes for nonprofit organizations and UBC-O in the delivery of co-curricular and curricular student placements?” Nonprofit organizations are integral partners of the CSL program. This research is intended to assist the CSL program to better understand the goals, needs, and desired outcomes of nonprofit partners. The research is also designed to assist in balancing partnerships to ensure mutually beneficial outcomes for nonprofit organizations and the UBC-O CSL program.
