Abstract
The Pacific Climate Impacts Consortium (PCIC) is a regional climate service that was established to act as an interface between climate research and climate applications within British Columbia and surrounding areas, referred to as the Pacific and Yukon Region of Canada. Planning for the impacts of climate change and variability requires practical information on how the climate system affects the local landscape in the near and distant future. This information is generally not specifically available for the Pacific and Yukon Region (PYR) of Canada. Further, the region presents significant climatological challenges that complicate the use of climate information. These challenges are beyond the capacity of most organizations to overcome, thus they require an interface with the climate science community to understand the impact of climate variability and change on
their organization.
