| dc.description.abstract | The purpose of this thesis is to design a level three course of study in music for the primary classroom teacher. The Kodály and Orff approaches to music education are the basis for this program. Relevant literature pertaining to general curriculum and music teaching methods are examined. Specific music concepts and skills are extracted from selected musical materials and consolidated to form a series of sequential lesson plans. Lesson Plans (Level I and II ) have been developed by the writer and are presently in use in District 61. A third level is required to provide a continuation of the program in the primary grades. Recommendations for implementing the program in the public school system are discussed. | en_US |
