Abstract
A phonological analysis is presented of Cowichan, a dialect of Halkomelem Salish , based upon a corpus of linguistic material gathered primarily from one native speaker of this language.
The format adheres strictly to the basic style used in numerous phonological analyses of American Indian languages. This study of the phonology encompasses chapters on attestation, allophony and phoneme distribution.
Appendices consisting of a basic wordlist, data on linguistic acculturation and a sample text are included.
