This research project completed an evaluation capacity assessment with the Immigration and Settlement Service (ISS) of Catholic Social Services (CSS), a newcomer-serving agency based in Edmonton, Alberta. The goal of the project was to understand the organization’s evaluation capacity, including facilitators and barriers to evaluation capacity, so that informed recommendations could be made to build the evaluation capacity of the organization. This research is situated within the environment of public accountability and governing for results that shapes nonprofit-government relations in Canada, with the central focus of the project being on evaluation as a mechanism of both accountability and organizational learning.en_US
