| dc.description.abstract | Research has demonstrated an increase in the number of Canadian children who experience anxiety (Wadell, Shepherd, Schwartz, & Barican, 2014). Anxiety can create barriers to children’s participation in school, academic achievement, development of positive coping skills, social growth, and espousal of a healthy self-view. The goal of this project is to use a growth mindset approach to support children with anxiety by developing children’s resilience, self-efficacy, and motivation for learning. The result is a workshop for educators and administrators regarding strategies and resources for implementing a growth mindset intervention in the early years classroom. I draw on current literature to examine how teachers can structure the classroom environment to foster the development of a growth mindset perspective. In addition, I consider how educators can share a growth mindset perspective with parents. | en_US |
