Liquid hydrocarbons have been suggested as a detection media for ionization chambers in hadronic calorimeters as a means of improving their energy resolution. In this thesis, the performance of a parallel plate (with 1 cm separation) ionization chamber using room temperature 2,2,4,4 TMP was studied using minimum ionizing cosmic rays. We obtained the drift mobility of the ionization electrons μ = 26.3 ± 0.8 cm^2V-1s-1, the lifetime of the electrons ti = 121 ± 19 μs, and the free ion yield as a function of electrical field with G1i(0) = 0.743 ± 0.029 electrons/100 eV at 293 ° K, by a waveform analyzing method.
