Abstract
The eyewitness identification performance and facial recognition memory of individuals with and without autism spectrum disorder were measured. Participants completed inventories measuring other traits related to autism. Significant differences in facial recognition accuracy were observed between individuals with and without autism, but there was considerable overlap between groups, suggesting that eyewitness testimony from persons with autism can be considered reliable. Greater ability on the eyewitness identification and facial recognition tasks was associated with greater social competence.
