Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technologies have recently drawn great attention for short-range wireless communication due to their many attractive advantages such as high data rates, robustness to multipath fading and coexistence with narrowband wireless systems. In wireless digital communication, to improve the system performance error correcting codes are very efficient and widely used. In this thesis, we employ Bose-Chaudhuri-Hochquenghem (BCH) codes in a UWB communication system. We consider UWB direct sequence spread spectrum pulse position modulation (DS-SS PPM) system with BCH coding for both additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) and UWB fading channels, multi-access and single-user performance results are given for errors-only and errors-and-erasures decoding. The simulation results show the effectiveness of the system in improving performance.en
