Canada-Iraq Marshlands Initiative, CIDA funded, $4.8 million, 2007-2010
This project involves working with a cross-section of Iraqi society to help manage the conflicts revolving around the Iraqi Marshes in Southern Iraq. IDR has co-led and provided facilitation and capacity building expertise to enable a large group of stakeholders with conflicting ideas, visions and viewpoints to find consensus around an ecological plan and decision-making tools to provide for a sustainable plan for the Marshes that will meet the concerns of all Iraqis, but particularly the Marsh peoples.
