dc.description.abstract[The thesis is a critical and comparative analyses of the Polish war effort in World War 11 as presented in four different historiographies, British and American, Polish, German and Soviet. It examines the Polish September Campaign of 1939, the activity of the Polish resistance movement and the participation of the Polish regular forces fighting on the Western and Eastern Fronts. In the process, a number of stereotypes, myths, biases and controversies are identified and addressed. The sources used include books and articles written in English, Polish and Russian. With regard to the material in German, translations into one of these three languages were utilized.]
