Abstract

This thesis consists of a phonemic analysis at the word level of the phonology of Mainland Comox, a language spoken by the Sliammon, Klahoose, and Homalco peoples of British Columbia. Presented are some of the phonological rules necessary to map t he m6rphemes of an utterance onto the phon­etic level of speech. Included are appendices consisting of word lists specifically designed for comparative Salish studies and an introductory section of explanation for the non-linguist.
