Abstract
This research is an investigation of 20th century experimental compositions documenting common features and motifs found in prominent works. This research identifies common tropes found in composers of this era and demonstrates these features in different contexts and environments using traditional and avant-garde methods of composition on accordion. Developing on an existing pedagogy of experimental music production, this research contextualizes experimental music in the 21st century using modern audio editing software. Deep Listening techniques are used to challenge the boundaries between audience, performer, environment, and composer.
